Hospitals

Health care is something that we take for granted in this country, which is no wonder as it is a service that everyone deserves and needs at certain points throughout their lives.

The NHS is the governing body of hospitals in the UK, making health care free for all. Visiting the hospital with some kind of injury or illness could result in you being treated by various different people including physicians, surgeons and nurses.

In history it has not always been these people who have treated people in hospitals, with these jobs often going to volunteers or the religious orders that founded and funded them.

Funding in the modern day is often carried out by a nation’s government. In the UK treatment is available to all, though some non-emergency treatments will often incur a waiting list to get treatment. As an alternative some people go through private healthcare, for which health insurance can cover some of the costs. In the US the healthcare system is largely profit-run.

Most towns and cities have a hospital where all kinds of medical problems are treated or cured. They are served by ambulances, which attend the scene of an accident or emergency and bring patients back to the hospitals A & E department.

It is only with cases such as cosmetic surgery where before and after treatment will need to be paid for except in circumstances where a doctors or specialist deems this necessary to improve a persons quality of life.
